CPA score release dates: when scores come out

CPA score release dates are fixed target dates set by the AICPA, not a set number of days after your exam. Core sections follow a rolling schedule tied to when the AICPA receives your exam file; Discipline sections have one release date per quarterly testing window.

CPA score release dates: Core sections

For the Core sections (AUD, FAR and REG), your score is released on the next target date after the AICPA receives your exam file from Prometric, which usually happens soon after you finish. Release happens in the evening US Eastern time, and NASBA posts to your dashboard before your state board emails you. The dates below are from the AICPA’s target score release schedule; if you have not booked yet, see CPA exam dates and scheduling.

Discipline section score release dates

The Discipline sections (BAR, ISC and TCP) are only offered in the first month of each quarter, and everyone who tests in a window gets the same target release date.

From July 2027 the exam moves to a new delivery platform and the AICPA has published a different, less frequent schedule for both Core and Discipline sections. All dates are targets and can change. Source: AICPA score release schedule, checked October 13, 2026.

What happens on release day

Scores post to your NASBA dashboard first, usually in the evening Eastern time, and the site slows badly for the first hour. Your state board sends its own notification anywhere from a few hours to several days later — the dashboard is the one that matters.

A score of 75 is a pass. It is a scaled score, not a percentage and not a curve against other candidates, so a hard quarter does not make 75 easier to reach. Our CPA pass rates page shows how each section has gone recently.

If you passed

Register for your next section before the momentum goes. Your 30-month credit window started the day you passed this one.

If you failed

You get a score report showing performance by content area. Read it before you buy anything — it usually says the problem was simulations.

If it is close

A 73 or 74 is not a rounding error you can appeal. Score reviews almost never change the outcome and cost $240 through NASBA.

If nothing appears

Check the window you actually tested in. Late-window tests slip to the next release date more often than people expect.

Common questions

Why do scores take two weeks?

Scores are released on AICPA target dates rather than as soon as you finish, and your exam cannot be scored until the AICPA receives your file from Prometric. How long you wait depends on where your file lands relative to the next target date; for Discipline sections, everyone in a quarterly window gets the same release date.

Can I appeal a 74?

You can request a score review through NASBA, and it costs $240. It almost never changes the outcome — the score has already been verified before release.

Should I study while waiting for a score?

Yes. Start the next section immediately. The two weeks spent refreshing the dashboard are the most commonly wasted time in the whole process.

Where do I find my CPA exam score?

On your NASBA dashboard, which updates before your state board emails you. NASBA’s scores page explains how to retrieve your score and score notice.
