CPA exam Reddit, forums and Quora

CPA exam Reddit threads, Facebook groups and Quora answers are where CPA candidates talk to each other online. These communities are unofficial: they are useful for study tips, morale and score-release chatter, but anything about fees, deadlines or rules should be checked against the official sources. Links checked October 11, 2026.

CPA exam Reddit: r/CPA

  • r/CPA: the largest CPA candidate community on Reddit. Expect study-plan threads, section-by-section advice and official-style score release threads where candidates post as scores come out.

Search the subreddit before you post: most questions about section order, study hours and course choice have long threads already. The score release threads are the most useful part. When a release date arrives, candidates post as scores appear, which tells you whether scores are out before your own notice lands. The official schedule is on our CPA score release dates page.

Communities NASBA points candidates to

NASBA’s own CPA Exam FAQ, answering where to find study help, points candidates to two places: the CPA Candidate Forum, a Facebook group created for CPA Exam candidates to connect, share tips and ask questions, and This Way to CPA, a site with guidance and tools for people exploring or pursuing the CPA. They are a useful counterweight to Reddit because they come recommended by the body that runs exam registration.

Quora

  • CPA exam questions on Quora: older, longer-form answers, often from licensed CPAs about careers and whether the credential is worth it.

Check community answers against the official rules

For everything else, start from our official CPA Exam links and the CPA exam guide, then plan your dates with the CPA study schedule planner.

Using community advice well

  • Check the date on a post. The exam changed in 2024 (CPA Evolution), so older advice about BEC or the four-section exam no longer applies.
  • Confirm fees, deadlines and eligibility on the official CPA Exam links page or with your state board.
  • Treat course recommendations with care: some posts are written by people who sell or are paid to promote a course.

Common questions

Is r/CPA an official CPA exam forum?

No. r/CPA is run by volunteer moderators, not by the AICPA, NASBA or any state board. Treat it as peer advice and confirm rules with the official sources.

Can I trust rescheduling advice on Reddit?

Check the date first. Fee and scheduling rules change: NASBA’s current guide makes rescheduling free only 60 or more days before your appointment, so older threads quoting a 30-day rule are out of date.

Where do I find official score release dates?

The AICPA publishes the target release dates, and NASBA forwards scores to state boards, some of which need an extra day. Our score release page lists the current schedule.

Should I pick a review course from Reddit recommendations?

Use them as one input. Look for posters who say which sections they took and when, and compare against independent reviews such as our best CPA review courses page.
