Surgent CPA Review: now folded into UWorld

Surgent’s own CPA page now says Surgent is part of UWorld and directs new CPA candidates to UWorld CPA Review. We could not find a way to buy Surgent CPA Review as a separate course. This page records what it was and where to look now.

Ownership note: UWorld acquired Surgent on April 30, 2026 and also owns Roger CPA Review. As of our October 2026 check, Surgent’s CPA page is titled “CPA Exam Review, Now Through UWorld” and sells UWorld packages at an exclusive Surgent discount. Surgent says existing Surgent CPA customers will have their access details communicated separately.

Ratings and notes elsewhere on this site are our editorial assessment from published details and third-party reviews, not independent testing. The Surgent CPA score we published earlier described the course as it was sold before the change, so we have removed it from this page.

What happened to Surgent CPA Review

1
April 30, 2026: UWorld buys Surgent

UWorld announced it had acquired Surgent Accounting & Financial Education from the KnowFully Learning Group. It was UWorld's third purchase in accounting and finance education, after Wiley Efficient Learning and Roger CPA Review.

2
At the deal: business as usual

UWorld's announcement said it would keep running Surgent's products as usual, with no disruption to current offerings.

3
By September 2026: CPA moves to UWorld

Surgent's CPA page was rebuilt as "CPA Exam Review, Now Through UWorld". It now sells UWorld CPA Review packages at a Surgent price instead of Surgent's own CPA passes.

4
October 2026: our check

We found no separate Surgent CPA Review for sale. Surgent's EA review, Income Tax School and CPE remain on the Surgent platform.

What Surgent says now

  • Surgent’s FAQ: “Surgent is now part of UWorld. For CPA Exam preparation, UWorld CPA Review is the current recommended course, combining Surgent’s technology heritage with UWorld’s CPA content and instruction.”
  • Existing customers. Surgent says to contact Surgent Support about current access.
  • Still active at Surgent. Its FAQ says Surgent EA Review, Surgent Income Tax School and Surgent CPE remain active on the Surgent platform. Its menu also links CIA, CISA and CMA review pages, which we have not checked.

What it was, per earlier reviews

Third-party reviews from 2025 and early 2026 described three tiers: Essentials Pass at $799, Premier Pass at $1,299 and Ultimate Pass at $1,699. Each came with access until you pass and a pass guarantee with conditions. They reported 9,000 or more multiple-choice questions, 500 or more simulations and adaptive A.S.A.P. technology. Those listings predate the change, so do not assume any of it can still be bought.

The adaptive approach was the reason most candidates picked Surgent. UWorld’s course has its own adaptive tool, SmartPath, which compares your progress with that of past candidates who passed. If adaptive study was what drew you to Surgent, that is the feature to look at in UWorld’s free trial.

What UWorld offers Surgent customers

Surgent’s page lists UWorld CPA Review packages with an exclusive Surgent price, applied automatically. Premier is $1,999 (18 months of access) and Elite-Unlimited is $2,299 (unlimited access until you pass). Elite-Unlimited+ at $2,899 adds a per-section money-back pass guarantee. It also describes a Fresh Start discount for people who bought another provider’s full course. See our UWorld review for details and caveats.

Package List price Surgent price Access What it adds
Premier $3,499 $1,999 18 months 9,000+ practice questions, 500+ simulations, 1,400+ video lectures, digital study guides
Elite-Unlimited $3,899 $2,299 Until you pass, up to 3 years Printed study guides, full-length mock exams, live boot camps
Elite-Unlimited+ $4,699 $2,899 Until you pass, up to 3 years All six sections; $250 per section refund if you fail, up to $1,000, if requirements are met
Fresh Start (Elite-Unlimited) $3,899 $1,299 Until you pass, up to 3 years For people who bought another provider’s full course ($1,000 or more), with proof

Prices as listed on Surgent’s CPA page, checked October 13, 2026

Two caveats. UWorld’s 90% pass rate figure covers only candidates who hit its SmartPath benchmarks, not everyone who buys the course. And the pass guarantee applies only to Elite-Unlimited+ and only if UWorld’s requirements are met, so read the terms before you count on it.
