PMP exam dates and scheduling
There are no fixed PMP sitting dates. Once PMI approves your application, you have a one-year eligibility period to take the exam, with up to three attempts, and you book any available slot at a Pearson VUE test center or online.
How scheduling works
- Apply first. You cannot book until PMI approves your application.
- Pay the exam fee, then schedule through Pearson VUE, either at a test center or online with a proctor.
- Use the year. Your three attempts must all fall within the one-year eligibility period that starts when your application is approved.
- Pick the right version. Every sitting now uses the refreshed exam, so your prep must match it.

Planning your year
Do not apply until you have your 35 hours and a clear study plan, since the one-year clock starts at approval.
Appointment availability depends on where you are and which delivery option you choose, so schedule soon after you are approved.
Leave room for a retake within the same year in case the first attempt does not go to plan.
Common questions
What if I do not pass within the year?
The one-year eligibility period and the three-attempt limit are PMI’s rules. If you have not passed by then, check PMI’s current policy, since you may need to apply again.
Can I reschedule my appointment?
Check PMI’s policy for the current rules and any fee. Changing an appointment may carry conditions, so do not leave it to the last day.
