Best CPJE prep in 2026: the Board’s free material, UWorld RxPrep and PassNaplexNow
Last checked October 19, 2026 · Sources: PSI CPJE candidate bulletin (Board study references, sample questions); UWorld RxPrep CPJE; PassNaplexNow’s CPJE Law Review and course FAQ. Not hands-on tested.
The best CPJE prep covers both California law and clinical practice, because two-thirds of the scored questions aren’t pure law. Start free with the Board’s references and the 22 sample questions in PSI’s candidate bulletin. For a law course, PassNaplexNow’s CPJE Law Review is $225 with about 200 questions, and UWorld RxPrep’s CPJE course has 350+ questions and a 75-item practice exam. With only 56% passing in the Board’s latest report, the CPJE deserves its own preparation, not just NAPLEX review.

Our picks
- Start free with the Board’s material. PSI’s bulletin says prep courses aren’t necessary and points to California Pharmacy Law, The Script, Health Notes and the self-assessment forms.
- Cheapest law course: PassNaplexNow at $225. Law only, so pair it with clinical review.
- Most CPJE practice: UWorld RxPrep. 350+ questions and a 75-item practice exam that matches the scored count. See our UWorld RxPrep review.
- Clinical gap: if your NAPLEX prep was thin on California practice, PassNaplexNow’s clinical course covers the CPJE’s clinical portion.
How to choose
- Cover both halves: California law and clinical practice standards; clinical practice alone is 27 of 75 scored questions.
- Work through the Board’s content outline so nothing is missed.
- Take a timed practice exam before you book: UWorld RxPrep’s has 75 items, matching the CPJE’s scored questions.
- If you’re retaking, change your approach; repeat takers passed at about 35%.
How we ranked the best CPJE prep
We put the Board’s free material first because it’s official and costs nothing, then compared what each provider publishes on its own pages (price, coverage of law versus clinical content, practice volume and access) and rated each course out of 5 with the same rubric we use across the site: question bank 25%, practice exams 20%, lectures 15%, platform 15%, support 10% and value 15%. Ratings are our editorial assessment from published details, not hands-on tests. We don’t accept payment for placement and don’t currently earn commissions. See how we rank CPJE prep.

Common questions about CPJE prep
Are these paid placements?
No. We currently earn no commission from any CPJE prep provider, and no one paid for a placement.
What is the cheapest CPJE prep?
The Board’s own references and PSI’s bulletin with 22 sample questions are free; PassNaplexNow’s CPJE Law Review at $225 is the cheapest paid law course we found.
Do I need a CPJE prep course?
PSI’s bulletin says prep courses aren’t necessary and aren’t a substitute for education and experience, but most candidates use one given the low pass rate.
Is NAPLEX prep enough for the CPJE?
Usually not on its own. The CPJE tests clinical practice the NAPLEX doesn’t cover, plus California law, so add CPJE-specific study.
