The CE Shop review
A solid, unremarkable regulator-published pass rate and a real national presence — but its own site actively blocks automated verification, so several things we can normally confirm for a national provider, we simply cannot for this one.
What it does well
In Texas, its students pass on their first attempt at 56.5% on 1,077 exams — essentially matching the 56.1% state average and Colibri’s 56.7%, on a meaningfully larger sample than Colibri’s 534. It offers the full stack: pre-licensing, post-licensing, continuing education, and a remedial package for candidates who failed the state exam, suggesting broad national reach.
Where we could not verify enough
This is the honest headline for this review. The CE Shop’s site returns a bot-detection challenge to every automated request we tried — direct fetches, alternate user agents, and archived copies all failed. We could not confirm its current pricing in any state, its exact state-by-state coverage, or the verbatim terms of its pass guarantee.
What we found in search-indexed snippets, and are not treating as verified: package tiers apparently named Standard, Value and Premium; a pass guarantee requiring a signed affidavit; and refund-exclusion state lists that were inconsistent across different snippets. None of this is reliable enough to publish as fact, and we have not used it above.
The regulator data
The pass rate is the one number here we can stand behind, because it comes from Texas’s regulator rather than the provider’s own site: 56.5% first-attempt, on 1,077 exams, over the current 24-month window.
Common questions
Why is there no pricing on this page?
Its site blocks the automated checks we use to keep prices current, and third-party sources for it contradict each other. Rather than repeat a number we cannot stand behind, we have left it out. Check at the checkout.
Is The CE Shop a real national provider?
Yes — its Texas exam volume (1,077 exams) confirms real, meaningful presence there, and it advertises the full stack of pre-licensing through continuing education.
Should I choose it over Colibri or Aceable?
On the one number we can verify — Texas pass rate — it performs almost identically to Colibri. We cannot make a pricing or guarantee comparison responsibly until we can verify its terms directly.
The final call
The regulator data suggests a genuinely competent provider, in the same range as Colibri. We are not comfortable ranking it higher without being able to verify its own claims the way we can for the other three, and we would rather say that plainly than paper over the gap.
