Official real estate licensing links
Real estate licenses are issued state by state, so the most important official source is your own state’s real estate commission or division. Each state also chooses its own exam vendor and pre-licensing rules. These are the official starting points. Links checked October 11, 2026.
Find your state regulator
- Our state-by-state licensing guides. Each state guide links to that state’s commission and lists its exam vendor and requirements.
- ARELLO licensee verification. Run by the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials. Its “Regulatory Agencies” list links to real estate regulators in the US and abroad, and it can verify licenses in participating jurisdictions.
- ARELLO. The association of real estate regulators, founded in 1930.
Exams and scheduling
- Your state’s exam vendor: states use different testing companies. Your state commission’s site names the vendor and links to its candidate handbook, which sets the fees, ID rules and retake policy.
- Pre-licensing education: required hours differ by state and must come from a provider your state approves. Your commission keeps the approved list.
