Texas PE license requirements
Texas has decoupled the PE from experience for its Engineers in Training (EITs): a current Texas EIT certificate approves you automatically to take the PE before earning your four years of experience, with as many attempts as you need while you hold it. You then apply to the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (TBPELS) with a $75 application fee, the free Texas ethics exam, PE references and a criminal history check. Without an EIT, you request approval to take the PE on the license application.
