Best PE exam prep courses in 2026

For most PE candidates, School of PE is the best all-round choice: courses for nearly every discipline, OnDemand from about $1,599 and a pass guarantee. PPI2Pass has the deepest materials and live classes, but its guarantee only comes with the priciest Live Online format. For PE Civil only, Civil Engineering Academy is a focused, practice-heavy option at $1,397. For Mechanical HVAC, Thermal and Fluids or Electrical Power on a budget, Engineering Pro Guides costs $595 to $950.

How to choose

  • Match your exact exam: PE Civil has five separate exams, and PE Civil: Structural differs from PE Structural (SE).
  • Use NCEES’s free handbook alongside any course; it’s the only reference in the exam.
  • Check your design standards edition: PE Civil standards change in April 2027.
  • Not sure which Civil exam you’ll take? Testmasters says its one course covers all five.

Common questions

Are these paid placements?
