The September and October 2026 administrations have already taken place. International test dates are listed on LSAC’s dates page.
Rules that catch people out
- No late registration. Miss the deadline and you register for a later date.
- The registration deadline matters for more than registering. For most administrations it is also the last day for a free date change, a full refund and accommodation requests.
- Date changes after the deadline cost money: $153 up to seven days after the deadline, $253 from day eight until the day before testing.
- Schedule as soon as scheduling opens. Test-center scheduling closes seven days after it opens, and slots go first come, first served.
- In-person testing. Since the August 2026 test, almost everyone tests at a Prometric test center.
Common questions
When should I take the LSAT?
Work back from your law school application deadlines, and leave room for a possible retake. Scores come out about three weeks after each administration.
How long is an LSAT score valid?
LSAC reports scores from the current reportable score period, which it currently defines as since July 2021. Each school decides how recent a score it accepts, so check with the schools on your list.
