How to order GED transcripts and diplomas

1
Start on GED.com

If you tested after January 1, 2014, sign in at GED.com and choose Order Duplicates. If you tested before 2014, go to GED.com's transcript request section, choose the region and area where you tested, and create a credential account.

2
Pick your documents

Choose a transcript, and a diploma or certificate if your state offers one. Some states only allow transcripts.

3
Choose where it goes

Send it to yourself, a college or an employer. GED.com says some schools in Parchment's network accept only electronic transcripts.

4
Choose delivery and pay

Electronic delivery is the fastest; paper is mailed and costs extra. Pay by card online, or by money order or cashier's check if you use the mail form.

Some states give new graduates documents for free. Alaska, for example, says every high school equivalency graduate receives an initial electronic diploma and transcript on completion, with duplicates at $18 each.

Transcript or diploma: which do you need?

Colleges, employers and the military usually ask for the transcript, which lists your scores in each subject. The diploma (called a certificate in some states) is the credential itself, useful for your own records. If you’re applying to a college, send the transcript directly to the school electronically if it accepts that; it’s faster and the school knows it’s genuine.

If you took the GED a long time ago

GED.com has a separate route for people who passed before January 1, 2014: you create a credential account through its transcript request page rather than ordering from a current GED.com account. If your record is very old, your state’s adult education office may hold it instead; GED.com’s state pages list who to contact.
