A low-cost GED prep plan
Take GED Ready ($7.99) in the subject you feel strongest in, to see where you stand.
A $24.99 Kaplan book covers all four subjects, or check your local adult education program and library.
Retake GED Ready before booking the real test; a green score means you're likely to pass.
Book and pass one subject, then move to the next.
The cheapest prep is passing first time
Each GED subject test costs $30 to $40 in most states, according to GED Testing Service, so failing one costs more than a GED Ready test. GED.com says you can retake a failed subject twice at a test center with no waiting period, and GED Testing Service waives its own fee on two discounted retakes within 12 months, though state fees may still apply.
