NCLEX in Nevada: a $100 fee, a one-year application and a four-attempt limit
The Nevada State Board of Nursing’s exam instructions list a $100 application fee for RNs, made through its Nurse Portal. Your application is valid for one year from the date the Board receives it, and Nevada’s administrative code limits each applicant to four NCLEX attempts.

The path for a new graduate
Submit the application through the Nevada Nurse Portal with the $100 fee for RNs.
Apply to the NCLEX testing service through Pearson VUE. Pearson VUE notifies the Board directly, and your account updates.
Submit a fingerprint card or electronic fingerprint submission. If you submitted fingerprints for the Board within the previous six months, you may not need to repeat them. A permanent license is not issued until the Board receives fingerprint reports.
Once those items are in, the Board makes you eligible and Pearson VUE sends your ATT. A guide says you have 90 days to test.
Things to know
- A graduate nurse permit. The Board’s instructions describe a permit allowing practice as a graduate nurse in Nevada only, for 90 days or until the Board acts. Check its conditions.
- No renewal reminders. The Board says you will not receive notice of license expiration or renewal dates.
- Applications expire. If your application lapses after a year, follow up with the Board about its status.
Common questions
Is there a limit on attempts?
The Board’s instructions cite a rule limiting each applicant to four writes of each NCLEX examination. Check the Board’s current wording before you plan around it.
Is endorsement different?
A summary reports about $105 plus fingerprint processing for endorsement, higher than the exam application. This page covers new graduates applying by examination.
