How we rank NCLEX courses

Our NCLEX pages are at an earlier stage than our CPA rankings, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. Here is what the current pages are based on, and what changes when hands-on testing is done.

What the NCLEX pages are based on today

Every NCLEX review and comparison uses each provider’s published details and reports from third-party sites. NCSBN’s test plans are the source for the exam format and content weights, and Pearson VUE for registration rules. We have not completed hands-on testing, so the review scores are editorial research scores built from published details and third-party review consensus, and the reviews make no claims about how a course feels to use.

Where we have less certainty

NCLEX prep prices come from third-party sites that disagree with each other and change with promotions, and question counts are the providers’ own claims. Pass rates come from NCSBN data as reported by others, and we do not rank on providers’ own pass-rate claims. The pages say where a figure is reported rather than confirmed.

What hands-on testing will add

Each course will be scored from 0 to 5 in five categories, adapted from our CPA rubric for the NCLEX:

Category What we look at
Question quality How closely questions and rationales match the exam and the Next Generation formats
Readiness tools Whether adaptive simulators and readiness ratings are realistic
Teaching Clarity of lessons for people who need the concepts taught
Currency Whether the material reflects the 2026 test plan
Value for money Price against access length and what is included

How affiliate money is handled

We do not currently earn a commission on any links, and commission would not decide which course fits which situation, and every comparison names when the other course is the better buy. No provider sees a page before it is published.

Keeping it current

The NCLEX moved to a new test plan in April 2026, and prices and packages change often. Each page states when its details were checked; if something has changed, the provider’s live checkout, NCSBN and your state board are the final word.
