1
Apply for fee reduction first

If you may qualify for a $100 voucher (financial need, unemployment, Peace Corps or a partner program), apply before you register. ETS emails the voucher number within two weeks of approval.

2
Create your ETS account

Create a free ETS account. Enter your name exactly as it appears on the ID you will bring.

3
Choose at home or test center

Test at home or at a test center; both cost the same. Check ETS's at-home equipment and room requirements if testing at home.

4
Pick a date

Choose any available date. You must wait 21 days between attempts, with no more than five in a rolling 12 months.

5
Pay

Pay $249 (plus tax where it applies). Rescheduling later costs $55.

6
Plan your score recipients

On test day you can name up to four schools to receive your scores at no extra charge, as reported by review sites citing ETS; later reports cost $40 each.
