How we rank ABIM prep

We group ABIM prep by what it does best (explanations, content review, value, guarantees) because residents’ needs differ. We use ABIM for exam facts and each provider’s own pages for features, haven’t tested products hands-on, and take no payment for placement.

What we look at

• Alignment with ABIM’s blueprint.
• Format: question bank, or content review plus questions.
• Price for the access you need, including resident and program pricing.
• Guarantees and MOC points, and whether CME counts for ABIM MOC.
• Whether it covers recertification (the LKA and 10-year exam).

A note on sources

Several ABIM prep providers show prices only at checkout or vary them by membership, so more of our ABIM prices are labeled ‘reported’ or ‘cited’ than for other exams. Third-party summaries of ABIM’s own data can also be wrong: one prep company’s summary implied the 2024 Internal Medicine pass rate was 86%, but ABIM’s report says 87%. We use ABIM’s own figures wherever we can.
