Kaplan also sells individual study tools. On its SIE pages the License Exam Manual lists at $45, the SecuritiesPro QBank at $49 and online flashcards at $29; the Series 7 License Exam Manual and QBank list at $65 each.
What the Premium package includes
Kaplan says its Premium packages include the License Exam Manual (print and PDF), the SecuritiesPro QBank with unlimited randomly generated exams, unit intro and wrap-up videos, checkpoint, midterm, practice and mastery exams, a study plan, a performance tracker, Kaplan’s AI Tutor, a student community, and InstructorLink, which it says answers questions within two business days. Premium adds a choice of an OnDemand video class or a scheduled Live Online class with an archived recording. The Basic and Essential tiers include fewer of these tools.

What to watch for

- Pass-rate claim: Kaplan’s SIE page shows an “87% SIE exam pass rate among surveyed Kaplan students”, but its footnote describes a survey of students who bought an insurance course and reported an insurance exam result. We don’t treat it as an SIE pass rate.
- Review citations: Kaplan quotes Investopedia naming it best for learning materials; Kaplan’s own footnote says Investopedia is a Kaplan affiliate, though it says the site reviews independently.
- Look for sale prices, which Kaplan runs periodically, before paying list price.
Kaplan SIE and Series 7 review verdict: who should buy it, and alternatives
Choose Kaplan if you want teaching, either a live online class or on-demand lectures, a printed manual, or if your firm is paying. If you’re paying yourself and study well alone, Achievable lists $99 for the SIE and $199 for the Series 7. And FINRA’s free SIE practice test is worth trying first either way.
