California is one of four jurisdictions with its own pharmacy law exam. Instead of the MPJE, California pharmacist candidates take the CPJE (California Practice Standards and Jurisprudence Examination for Pharmacists), which tests clinical practice standards as well as law.
Per NABP’s list of states requiring the MPJE or UMPJE. Checked October 12, 2026.
