How to register for the MPJE or UMPJE
First check whether your board uses the state-specific MPJE or the Uniform MPJE. Then apply for eligibility in the Exam Services section of your NABP e-Profile and pay the application fee. Once your eligibility is confirmed, you can buy the exam and book a test appointment. NABP confirms eligibility itself in 12 jurisdictions, for an extra $85; elsewhere your board does.
From NABP’s How to Apply, MPJE and UMPJE pages and its Candidate Application Bulletin. Exam fees as reported; confirm in the Bulletin. Checked October 12, 2026.
Read NABP's Candidate Application Bulletin and your board's own licensure requirements.
Check NABP's participating-states list to see whether your jurisdiction uses the UMPJE or the state MPJE.
Apply in the Exam Services section of your NABP e-Profile and pay the application fee ($100, as reported).
NABP or your board confirms you meet the requirements. NABP doesn't make eligibility decisions; boards do.
Buy the exam ($170 MPJE or $350 UMPJE, as reported) and schedule your appointment.
Where NABP confirms eligibility ($85 extra)
Arizona, Colorado, District of Columbia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Utah and Wisconsin. Other jurisdictions have their own processes.
On exam day
- 120 questions in 2.5 hours; the UMPJE appointment is 3 hours in total to allow for screens and the NDA.
- No scheduled breaks, and you must answer in order without skipping, per NABP for the UMPJE.
- Read the Bulletin’s test-day policies so you aren’t turned away.
