CMA community: Reddit, Quora and outdated claims to watch
Community links first checked October 11, 2026 and rechecked October 20, 2026. Posts are personal experience, not official guidance. Current facts below are from IMA and providers’ own pages.
The CMA community online is mostly found in r/Accounting and in CMA threads across Reddit, plus longer answers on Quora. These communities are unofficial: good for study tips and experience, but 2026 changed the exam format and several course prices, so check fees, deadlines and rules against IMA’s own pages.
The large general accounting community. IMA itself chose it to host an "Ask Me Anything" session for CMA candidates, and CMA threads come up there regularly.
→Finds CMA threads across all communities. We could not confirm a dedicated CMA subreddit active enough to recommend.
→Longer answers, often about whether the CMA is worth it and how it compares with the CPA.
→Outdated CMA claims you may see

Using community advice well
- Check the date on a post. Essay questions were replaced by case-based questions in 2026 on most English-language exams, so older format advice may be out of date.
- Confirm fees, windows and eligibility on the official CMA links page.
- Treat course recommendations with care: some posts are written by people who sell or are paid to promote a course. Our best CMA review courses page shows how we rate them.
- Never share or ask for real exam questions; IMA’s rules forbid it.
Common questions about the CMA community
Is there a CMA subreddit?
r/Accounting, where IMA has hosted an Ask Me Anything for CMA candidates; searching Reddit for “CMA exam” finds threads elsewhere. We couldn’t confirm an active dedicated CMA subreddit.
Can I trust Reddit advice on the CMA?
Use it for study tips and experiences, not for fees, prices or format rules, several of which changed in 2026.
Can I share CMA exam questions?
No. Sharing exam content breaks IMA’s rules.
