MPJE requirements in New York
New York licenses pharmacists through the State Education Department’s Office of the Professions (NYSED), not a separate board. You need to meet education, experience and examination requirements, and pass both the NAPLEX and the New York MPJE within five years. New York’s minimum age for a pharmacist license is 21.

The path
Submit your application and fee to NYSED's Office of the Professions.
NYSED requires a pharmacy degree from an accredited program, or a non-accredited program it determines meets its study requirements.
Experience requirements depend on your route. Check NYSED's page for what applies to your degree.
If you meet NYSED's admission requirements, apply online at nabp.pharmacy for the NAPLEX and the New York MPJE, and pass both within five years.
Already licensed in another state
New York offers licensure by endorsement for pharmacists licensed in another jurisdiction. The New York MPJE is part of the requirements; check NYSED’s endorsement instructions for what else applies to you.
Common questions
Does New York use the Uniform MPJE?
No. New York uses its own state version of the MPJE, not the Uniform MPJE, as of NABP’s list.
How many internship hours do I need?
Third-party guides disagree on New York’s internship hours and fees, and they depend on your degree and route, so we don’t quote figures here. NYSED’s license requirements page is the source to rely on.
