Last checked October 17, 2026 · Sources: Florida DFS agent licensing and exam pages; Pearson VUE Florida insurance. Exam fee, question counts, attempt limits and pre-licensing hours as summarized from the Pearson VUE Florida candidate handbook by several approved schools, which agree; confirm in the handbook.

A Florida insurance license requires DFS-approved pre-licensing education before you test, which is more than many states ask: 60 hours for the popular 2-15 Life, Health and Variable Annuity license and 200 hours for the 2-20 General Lines (property and casualty) license. The Pearson VUE exam costs $44 per attempt and needs 70% to pass, and DFS charges a $50 application fee plus a $5 license ID fee.

Retakes and score validity

  • Five attempts in 12 months: schools citing the handbook say you can take the same exam no more than five times in a one-year period.
