PrepFE review: low-cost FE practice exams

PrepFE is an online practice platform for the FE exam: 500+ practice problems with step-by-step explanations, timed and topic practice exams, flash cards and a breakdown of strengths and weaknesses. It costs $79.99 for one month, $99.99 for three or $119.99 for six, with no auto-renewal, and offers a free repeat subscription if you fail after meeting its conditions.

Prices, features and guarantee terms from PrepFE’s own pricing and guarantee pages, checked October 12, 2026. PrepFE’s homepage lists all seven FE disciplines but its FAQ names five, so confirm your discipline is covered. We have not tested it hands-on, so this review has no score.

What stands out

• Cheap. Six months costs $119.99, a fraction of a full course.
• Practice-focused. Timed and topic exams, flash cards for the FE Reference Handbook, and performance analytics.
• Discipline-specific problems written to match the NCEES exam’s concepts and difficulty, according to PrepFE.
• Free repeat guarantee on every plan length, with conditions.
• No auto-renewal, and iOS apps included.

What to watch for

• No teaching. There are no lectures; pair it with a review book or course if your fundamentals are rusty.
• Guarantee conditions. You must take at least five practice exams (100+ problems) and average 75% or higher, sit the FE within three months of your subscription ending, and request the repeat within six months.
• Check your discipline. PrepFE’s pages disagree on whether Environmental and Industrial and Systems are covered.
• Not official questions. Add NCEES’s own practice exam for the most realistic check.
