How we rank FE exam prep
Our FE picks are based on what each provider publishes: disciplines covered, course formats, alignment with NCEES specifications and the reference handbook, guarantees and price. We have not run hands-on tests, so we do not give star scores.
What we look at
| Factor | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Your discipline | Some courses cover only FE Civil. |
| Handbook practice | The exam allows only the NCEES FE Reference Handbook, so prep should train you to use it. |
| Current specifications | New specifications are projected for July 2027; prep should match the version you’ll sit. |
| Format | Live classes, OnDemand or self-study. |
| Guarantees | We say whether a guarantee is a refund or a free repeat. |
| Price transparency | We label prices we couldn’t confirm on a provider’s own site. |
What we don’t do
- We don’t claim hands-on testing we haven’t done.
- We don’t accept payment for picks; we currently earn no commission from any FE provider.
- We don’t rely on review sites’ badges.
