Surgent EA review: the adaptive-practice option
Last checked October 22, 2026 · Sources: Surgent’s own EA product listings (tiers, features, guarantee, Ultimate price); exam facts from the IRS enrolled agent FAQ. Its 96-97% pass rate is Surgent’s own claim. The rating is our editorial assessment from published details using the rubric on our how we rank page, not a hands-on test.
This Surgent EA review covers adaptive EA prep built around practice that adjusts to what you already know, with a ReadySCORE that estimates when you’re ready. UWorld bought Surgent on April 30, 2026, and says it will keep running Surgent’s products as usual.

What stands out
Surgent’s approach is adaptive: it focuses your time on weak areas rather than re-teaching what you already know, and its ReadySCORE estimates how you’d do on the real exam. Every tier carries a Pass or Money-Back Guarantee, and Premier and Ultimate give access until you pass. Surgent has also offered monthly financing, so the cost can be spread out.
What to watch for
- Prices beyond Ultimate aren’t listed on the pages we checked; compare at checkout.
- Short videos suit candidates who know some tax. If you’re new to tax, you may want more teaching than short clips provide.
- Score targets have changed: since 2026 the SEE is scored 200 to 800 with 500 to pass; make sure ReadySCORE reflects the new scale.
- Read the guarantee terms before relying on them.
A note on ownership
UWorld acquired Surgent Accounting and Financial Education on April 30, 2026. Surgent still sells its own EA course, and UWorld says its products and services continue without disruption. The two are now the same company, but their course lines remain separate.
