Free EA resources worth your time
Last checked October 23, 2026 · Sources: the IRS’s sample SEE questions and EA FAQ; PSI’s candidate bulletin; providers’ own pages for trials.
The best free EA resources start with the IRS itself: it points candidates to its own tax law, publications and forms as source material, and publishes sample SEE questions. Add free question banks, Becker’s 14-day trial and Gleim’s free trial, and you can learn a lot before spending anything. If cost is a barrier, the NAEA Education Foundation offers scholarships for exam fees and study materials.

From the IRS and PSI
The IRS publishes sample SEE questions and answers as examples of what may appear on the exam. They are the closest thing to the real questions that you can get for free.
→The exam covers the Internal Revenue Code, Circular 230, IRS publications and forms. The IRS says these are available online, including prior-year versions.
PSI publishes the Candidate Information Bulletin, which explains the exam, the rules and the test-center or remote requirements.
→Free question banks and communities
- EA Dojo offers free EA study material and practice, and publishes comparisons of review courses.
- FreeFellow has free EA practice questions, including for Part 1.
- Becker’s blog and guides are free, and cover how the exam and its pass rates work.
Free banks vary in quality, and not all are updated for the current tax year or the 2026 score scale (200 to 800, with 500 to pass). Check the year before relying on one.
Free trials

- Gleim offers a free trial of its Premium EA Review on its site.
Help with the fees

How to use free resources well
Do the IRS sample questions to see what the exam asks and where you are weakest.
Try one or two providers' trials on the same topic and buy the one that explained it best.
The exam tests tax year 2025 in the current window. Free material from earlier years will have outdated figures.
