EA community: Reddit, Quora and outdated claims to watch

Community links first checked October 11, 2026 and rechecked October 22, 2026. Posts are personal experience, not official guidance. Current facts below are from the IRS enrolled agent FAQ and PSI’s candidate bulletin.

The EA community online is spread across tax and accounting threads on Reddit, plus longer answers on Quora. These communities are unofficial: useful for study tips and experience, but the exam changed a lot in 2026, with a new vendor, fee, score scale and testing window, so many older posts are out of date. Check fees, dates and rules against the IRS pages.

What these communities are good for

  • Which part to take first, from people who’ve done all three.
  • Study schedules around work and tax season.
  • Course experiences, as personal opinions rather than verified facts.

Using community advice well

  • Check the date on a post. The SEE moved from Prometric to PSI on March 1, 2026, so older advice about booking, test centers and fees may be wrong.
  • Confirm fees, the testing window and rules on the official EA links page.
  • Treat course recommendations with care: some posts are written by people who sell or are paid to promote a course. Our best EA review courses page shows how we rate them.
  • Never share or ask for real exam questions.

Common questions about the EA community

Is there an EA subreddit?

We couldn’t confirm an active dedicated EA exam subreddit; searching Reddit for ‘enrolled agent exam’ finds threads in tax and accounting communities.

Can I trust Reddit advice on the EA exam?

Use it for study tips and experiences, not for fees, scoring or dates, which changed in 2026.

Can I share SEE questions?

No. Sharing exam content breaks the exam’s confidentiality rules.
