CMT exam registration: how to register, fees and deadlines
Last checked October 16, 2026 · Sources: CMT Association registration page and FAQs. Remote delivery as described by a study guide.
CMT exam registration is done directly with the CMT Association; there’s no separate enrollment fee or membership needed to become a candidate. For the December 2026 window, standard registration has closed and late registration ($1,475) runs until November 4, 2026. Levels I and II are offered December 1-16 through Prometric, and Level III is on December 3. The official curriculum is included in the fee.
How CMT exam registration works
Create an account on the CMT Association site and register for one level. You can take only one exam per window.
The fee depends on when you register and includes the official digital curriculum, Optuma access and Nasdaq Dorsey Wright research.
After registering, book your appointment with Prometric, the Association's testing partner. Rescheduling before the deadline is free; afterwards Prometric charges $25, per the Association's FAQ.
Sit the exam at a Prometric center or, according to a study guide, online through Prometric ProProctor. Arrive on time: late arrivals aren't allowed to test.
December 2026 late registration is open until November 4.

Plan ahead for June 2027
Exams run each June and December, and early registration is the cheapest ($875 against $1,475 late). If you’re not ready for December, aim for early registration for the June 2027 window when it opens. Active CFA charterholders can waive Level I and register straight for Level II.
