The TOEFL iBT, explained
The TOEFL iBT is ETS’s English proficiency test for academic admissions. It was redesigned for tests from January 21, 2026, with adaptive Reading and Listening and a new 1 to 6 score scale; through January 2028, reports also show a comparable score on the old 0 to 120 scale. Use prep built for the new format.
Last checked October 12, 2026. Scoring and transition from ETS’s content page and 2026 score-display blog; fee as listed by ETS in September 2026, per a guide.
