On PANCE exam day, arrive at least 30 minutes early at your Pearson VUE test center with two forms of valid, current ID whose names match your NCCPA record exactly. The exam is five 60-minute blocks of 60 questions, with a 15-minute tutorial and 45 minutes of break time for the whole day that you manage yourself. Arrive too late and NCCPA says you may lose your $550 fee.
What ID to bring
NCCPA requires two forms of valid and current ID. One must have a permanently affixed photo with your printed name and signature; the second must have your printed name and signature. You won’t be admitted if the names on your IDs don’t match the name NCCPA has on file, so if your name has changed, tell NCCPA right away. At check-in, Pearson VUE digitally captures your photo, signature, fingerprint and/or palm vein image.
Arriving and checking in
Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your appointment. NCCPA warns that if you arrive late you may not be admitted, and you would forfeit your exam fee and have to reapply and pay again. You’ll be assigned a locker for everything you bring.
What you can’t take into the room
NCCPA bans personal belongings from the testing room, including brimmed hats, bags, books, notes, study materials, calculators, watches of any kind, phones and other electronic devices, outerwear, and food and drink. Staff may inspect belongings on reasonable suspicion, and anything that appears to reproduce NCCPA exam material will be confiscated. The session is watched by test center staff with audio and video monitoring.

NCCPA warns that long breaks early in the day can leave you with no break time later. With five blocks there are four gaps between them, so 45 minutes works out to about 11 minutes per gap if you split it evenly, by our arithmetic.
Moving through the blocks
Within a block you can answer questions in any order and go back to review or change answers. Once you leave a block, or its 60 minutes run out, you can’t return to it. Pace yourself at about one question a minute, and flag questions to revisit before the block ends.
A simple exam-day plan
Check both IDs match your NCCPA record, and view Pearson VUE's tutorial so the screens look familiar.
Arrive at least 30 minutes early with both IDs; lock everything else away.
Decide in advance how to split your 45 minutes, for example roughly 11 minutes between each block.
Results are posted to your NCCPA Portal about two weeks after the exam; see our format and scoring guide for what the score means.
